Hi!  I'm Lee Roystone.

I wanted to share with you my John Kerry memorabilia.  I can't
believe I still have it!  It was all in a box in the attic.  It's been a very
long time.

I began dating him when I was a Harvard graduate student and
he was a first term senator.  I worked part-time at Earth Day and
he was the Senate sponsor.  I met him at the Earth Day press
conference with the American Lung Association.  I was in his
world for 20 months.  We were both single.  For me it was
interesting and significant.

I hope you enjoy my mementos and get to know him a little better.
He is a wonderful man and he is the best man for the job out of
anyone anywhere.  It is important that we all support him with our
time and with our money.  Donate to:   www.JohnKerry.com

Vote for John in November!  The pictures and items on this page
are not in chronological order.   They are in "out of the box"
order.   To enlarge, click on the photo.

John and me at the Earth
Day celebration party.  We
were so happy that night -
we had worked so hard for
three months and Earth
Day was a huge success!
Little did we know that a
woman he'd met earlier
that very day would wind
up becoming his wife.

I loved listening to his
speeches. He writes his own
speeches on yellow legal pads.
He used to always say "idear".
Honey - it's idea.  "I know," he
said.  "I always say that."
Recently on CNN I heard him
say "idea" but then the next
month he said "Idear".  It made
me smile.  It's a New England
thing.  John, you can say it any
way you want.  Just win.   ;)

John pensive.  He is a
deep thinker and a good
listener;  he is wise
because of it.

John and I.  I can't remember where
we were when this picture was taken.
We were caught unaware.  He was
mid-sentence and I have that "quick -
throw-on a smile" look.

John wrote these words for an Earth
Day speech.  We, at the Earth Day staff,
had them put on an Earth Day invitation.

John KICK GEORGE'S BUTT for all of our sake. We
need a real leader who makes decisions that are in
the best interest of
the United States.    George
took 7 minutes before reacting to 9-11?   You need
your VP before reacting?!  In Vietnam if John had
waited 7 minutes or for someone else, he and his men
would be dead.  (Read pg. 102 Kranish, Mooney,
Easton). George did we go into Iraq because of Elie
Wiesel's fears for Israel?!  (pg. 320, Plan of Attack,
Woodward) You're scaring the hell out me, George.
George Bush has got to go.  I hate George Bush.
John is the natural leader and he is not void in any
area.  Vote for John Kerry in November!

John making a point.  That amazing
brain in action.  He is an extraordinary
man.  He's worldy and well read.  He
loves this country.  He understands the
big picture.  We need him!  No more
parochial Texas daddy's boy - we need
a world-class leader who "gets it."
Vote for John!

The volunteer party after the '90
election. We staged a mock debate for
John.  That's Justin O'Brien (Conan
O'Brien's brother) playing John. Me,
playing the opponent's wife, Jim S.  (my
hero)  playing the opponent and Mike
Meehan playing MC.  I believe Mike
Meehan is still John's number one.  This
really amused John. That is John's
inscription to me on the photo.

A standard form that John's office sent to all of us.  He
has such interesting handwriting.   Maybe an expert out
there will do a handwriting analysis and email it to me.
I've always been kinda curious.  :)

A note to me from John (it's private).
John's hand wrote my name on the

This was our baby.  More than 300,000 showed up for the event.  It was
also the day he met Teresa Heinz.  Earth Day brought me to him and
Earth Day brought her to him.  I feel that since we both met him through
the same cause, perhaps she is a kindred spirit.  (I applaud his choice.)
Perhaps she will remind him of the importance of that day.  Our rich
environmental resources made us wealthy as a nation; they need to be
protected.  We also need cancer-free water and air.  Environmental
pollutants are changing us as a species, especially the brains of
developing children (maybe that's what happened to George W.)  Our
country needs to get back on track.

This was me on election night
1990 just minutes prior to my
being devastated.  It was one of
the worst nights of my life.  Our
relationship survived.  It was
difficult for me to get past the
events of this night, but I did.

John uses his hands when he
talks.  My favorite speech line
that he used to say was: "ya
know folks.."  I guess he's
given that up..

Senator Chuck Robb and I at a
fundraiser.  I had recently
learned about John's marriage.
I was kinda curious to know if
there was any overlap. Poor
Chuck didn't know,  "Well I
originally saw John and Teresa
together at an event but I can't
remember..." Precious little info
from Chuck.  I finally learned
(from a book) that there was no
overlap.  He started seeing her
after I was gone. I believe I was
one of the last of John Kerry's
girlfriends before he remarried.
Hum, does that make me a
runner-up?  Only he knows.  I
need a consolation prize.  How
about this: Everyone out there
buy a book!  Buy a few!  Ha, ha.
PS - I barely know Chuck Robb
- no involvement. Vote for John!

This was a project we worked on for
Earth Day.  It was at the Bright Horizon's
Day Care Center and it went off very
successfully.  Here he is planting a tree
with a group of 4-year-olds.  John was
so great with the kids!  We had a
tree-planting to encourage everyone to
plant trees.  He and I were already
seeing each at this time.  It was a
wonderful, successful day!

John, gorgeous, and talking
on the phone.  Best feature:
His velvet voice. Did you know
he speaks French...

John speaking to me.
He's very charming.

Here I am with my Boston friends, Marve
and Liz, back in 1991.  Awesome friends.
The only member of the group not
shown is Ron. These people helped me
through the entire John situation only
they thought his name was "Michael".
Can you image their shock when they
learned that I was John Kerry's lover!
Marve was the first to figure out that
Michael was John Kerry.  I don't know
how he did it.  I'll never forget Marve's
face when he put two-and-two together.
Leaving Boston, John and my friends,
was the most difficult thing I have ever
done.  I had to - I was dying.  Look at
how apparent my bones were - I was a
walking skeleton.  Marve - where are
you? Please find Liz and I - we miss you.

A John Kerry bumper
sticker from '90.

I took this picture of John
right before he made a flirty,
playful comment to me.  This
picture is so him - I always
knew when he was about to
say something humorous  -
he'd get that ornery,
bemused look.  His eyes
would turn into thin laugh
eyes. This picture captures
it perfectly!  The next thing
that follows is the joke and
then a big grin! He has a
great sense of humour and
he can be very entertaining.

The invitation to John's swearing in
ceremony down in DC.  Although I'd
seen the Kerry daughters on a
number of occasions I finally got to
talk with them.  It was wonderful,
historic event!  I loved it.

Credentials for the MA
Democratic Convention.
John spoke; he was great

We laughed at this menu. Of course I ordered it and
devoured it!   Ha, ha!   ;)

In the beginning we had pet names. He
was Michael and I was Katherine. This
was to keep our friendship private.  I
forgot something at his place that I
needed.  He left it for me at the Senate
office in this envelope  before he left for
Washington.  Eventually, pet names
didn't work.  Too many people knew.

John, 46-years-old, talking to the old
ladies.  I love this picture.

An Earth Day
button.

My favorite John Kerry
photo.  He has gotten
better looking with age.
When I was in Nantucket
last summer I was
surprised to see his face
on the cover of  a local
magazine.  I was also
surprised to learn that he
lived there. I think it was
the first time in 12 years
that we were in the same
state.  I don't know if he
was in town, I did not see
him.   Vote for John!

A note from my Harvard roommate
before I moved to my own place in
Boston.   My response was, "Girl,
get me my glass slippers. I've got
a date with the Prince..."   I hated
missing John's calls. It was the era
before cell phones.  How did we
survive?

Thanks for

John Kerry turned
me on to the tape
of the play "Miss

liked it a lot.
